I am the first to admit that I am NOT a morning person but with these easy tips I found my morning routine with toddlers CAN be easy, stressless, and productive whether we have to get out of the house to go to preschool or to run errands or if its just a chill day at home….
I hate waking up and I also hate being late. When my husband is home it’s WAY easier to face the day and split the duties but he often works out of town so I have to get the ball rolling by myself.
TIPS FOR EASY MORNING ROUTINE WITH TODDLERS
Leave the sink clean
Nothing like coming down to a dirty kitchen, trying to find the kids favourite fork and spoon and you’re in a rush and figuring out you’ve run out of coffee cups. I also feel less overwhelmed when 1 chore is crossed off the list.
Prepare your coffee the night before
So all you have to do is press a button or better yet, set a timer. Such a head start I tell ya.
Wake up 5-10 mins before your kids
Now I am not a morning person and LOVE to lay around in bed for a bit. In the grand scheme of things 5 mins won’t make me more rested and I get 5 mins to surf the web before my hurricanes hit.
Take your shower at night not in the morning.
Nothing like having to drag your tired bum out of bed to take a shower and then dry your hair. I love my evening showers/baths, kind of takes the stress of the day away.
Have 5 mins “relax time”
Usually I go down with my 3 year old to get coffee and milk then we go get the youngest up and all have milk and coffee in bed. Gotta start the morning on the right foot, am I right?
Have the outfits picked out
If you are going out in the morning, lay out the clothes for the night before, seriously saves me 15 minutes in the morning!!
Have kids breakfasts prepped the night before
If it’s cereal I just put it in the bowl so all I have to do is add the milk. Seems so small but it will make you feel SUPER organized. My oldest lives to pick out her morning “menu” and wakes up excited to eat breakfast.
Put your kids to work
It’s never too early to teach your kids to help. Small things like taking out their own diaper and clearing off their own plate can go a LONG way!! You’ll thank me later 🙂
SEE nothing hard about it, but I find if you just make a few small modifications to your morning you can really REALLY turn your busy and stressful morning around.
I found that toddlers THRIVE on routine, predictability can be the key to a better behaved kid. So I find that an easy morning routine with your toddler can not only lead to a happier you but also to a happier kid.
Is there anything that you do which helps you get going better in the morning ?
